Maman, the New York-based French bakery and café that earned a national profile partly through Oprah Winfrey's endorsement of its signature cookie, plans to open its first Palm Beach County location at Sundy Village, the historic mixed-use complex at Atlantic Avenue and Swinton Avenue in Delray Beach. Per the operator's Instagram, the opening is targeted for late 2026.
The announcement marks a meaningful southward move for a brand that has built its footprint primarily in Northeast markets. The Delray outpost will carry Maman's all-day program — espresso, fresh-baked pastries, breakfast plates, sandwiches, salads — alongside what the operator describes as South-of-France-inspired dishes. A product line and collaborative elements from Martha Stewart are also expected at the Sundy Village location, according to the Instagram post. No further specifics were offered on the scope of Stewart's involvement or the format of the space.
The Sundy House property has anchored the western end of Atlantic Avenue for more than a century, operating as a historic inn and event venue before the surrounding Sundy Village complex developed into its current form — a mix of hospitality, retail, and dining set within a shaded, garden-style campus. Landing a nationally recognized café brand at that address is a meaningful signal for a block that has historically been quieter than Atlantic's higher-traffic eastern corridor.
Maman's design approach — whitewashed brick, vintage tile, layered domestic interiors drawn from French provincial sources — translates readily to preserved and historic properties. That aesthetic alignment with Sundy Village's existing character is likely part of the site's appeal. The operator has not released square footage or design specifics for the Delray space.
The Martha Stewart connection adds a lifestyle retail dimension that distinguishes this location from a standard café program. Stewart's commercial partnerships have spanned branded merchandise and co-developed product lines across food, home, and garden categories. Whatever form that collaboration takes in Delray, it adds a separate draw to a space that will already anchor itself on Maman's pastry and coffee program.
For Palm Beach County, the signing brings a brand with measurable name recognition into a corridor that has drawn sustained operator attention as the county's residential base and visitor numbers have expanded. Atlantic Avenue has moved through a steady cycle of new signings over the past several years — successive restaurant openings, retail upgrades, and hospitality investment — making Delray a legitimate evaluation market for brands considering Southeast Florida entry. Maman's choice of Sundy Village over a denser retail slot further east may reflect both site availability and a deliberate match between the brand's design identity and the property's character.
With a late 2026 target, the project has runway for permitting and build-out. The Sundy Village corridor is worth monitoring for follow-on announcements — the western end of Atlantic Avenue has the infrastructure and foot traffic to support additional signings if the Maman lease proves to be the leading indicator it appears to be.
