Laurie and Teresa Rodriguez, both Tampa natives, soft-opened Bookends: Literature and Libations at 2208 in Ybor City on June 25, debuting a hybrid bookstore and wine bar announced via the operators' Instagram.
The shop stocks Florida authors and Tampa history titles. Alongside the books, Bookends runs a coffee bar, wine and beer service, and baked goods. Regular programming at launch includes book clubs and tarot readings, per the operators' announcement — a recurring-event calendar that positions the space as a community venue alongside its retail function.
A full street address beyond the 2208 number has not been confirmed in the operators' public communications, and a prior tenant at the location has not been identified.
The June 25 opening was a soft launch. A formal grand opening is planned for July 2026; a specific date has not been set publicly as of late June. The July opening will be the clearest indicator of the full programming slate and hours the Rodriguez team intends to operate.
